Today we visited the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, Texas. Blue Bell has been making ice cream since 1907. For many years, you couldn’t get Blue Bell anywhere but Texas. So my mom said I HAD to try it while we were here.
I can’t believe it. Even the elevators are decorated. This elevator is taking us to the second floor where you can view the work and buy ice cream.
My mom was very upset when she saw the sign. No pictures? What? The observation deck allowed us to look out over the working stations. There were so many machines being used to make the ice cream. One machine dispensed the ice cream into a bucket. The machine twisted the bucket so the ice cream went in with a nice swirl. Next the lid dispenser fitted the lid on the ice cream. The other assembly line was making pints of ice cream. Each had half vanilla and half chocolate. You could see the two ice creams coming from two different pipes. Some of the pipes looked white but they weren’t painted. They were just frozen because of the cold ice cream gong through them. We joked that I would want to lay on the machine so ice cream could be dispensed in my mouth.
Blue Bell has an ice cream parlor too. My mom was happy because it was only $1 per scoop. I got one scoop of Rocky Road and one scoop of Triple Chocolate Delight. My mom didn’t think I could eat it all but I showed her.
